About the Cell
Our Mahavidyalaya features a dedicated Career Counselling, Training, and Placement Cell that focuses on providing comprehensive career support for all graduates passing out from the college. The main endeavour of the cell is to get the students placed in reputed firms, industrial establishments, multinationals, banks, NGO’s, and the private sector. The cell ensures logistical support to the visiting companies at every stage of the placement process by making them infrastructure available to them. Our cell acts as an interface between the industry and the students. The Placement Cell arranges training programmes like Mock Interviews, Group Discussions, Communication Skills Workshops etc., and it also organises Public Sector Exam Training for students who are interested in joining Government Sectors. Many companies visit campus and conduct Campus Placement Drives, and the number of students placed through campus interviews is continuously rising. Successfully maintaining high placement statistics over the years is a testimony to our quality.
Role
- To evolve a schedule of the activities for the academic year and merge it with the college academic calendar.
- To help students choose the best career option.
- To maintain a database of companies and collaborate with the companies concerned for campus recruitment.
- To conduct workshops on soft skills for overall personality development.
- Maintain a database of alumni and organise alumni meetings on a planned basis.
- The alumni network should be encouraged to help the current students in getting placements. A separate list of influential alumni should be maintained with regular communication with them.
Placement Cell Charter
- To plan the yearly budget and project the estimates to Bursar as and when asked.
- To conduct meetings on a regular basis as required.
- To conduct seminars on career counselling/mock interviews on different subjects as planned.
- To take approval from management to conduct seminars through professional counsellors.
- To make provisions for funds required for career counselling in one academic year.
- To oversee the proper functioning of seminars, workshops, and training programmes organised.
- To prepare the list of students employed through campus placement in one academic year.
- To prepare the proper documents of seminars/workshops/training organised in one academic year.
- To take prior approval from management for inviting companies for campus placement.
- Updated Alumni data to be maintained.
Placement Cell Initiatives
- Placement Drives: Regularly conducted for final year students and alumni to facilitate job opportunities.
- Skill Development Programs: Ongoing training sessions to enhance various professional skills.
- MoUs/Collaborations with diverse Organizations and Institutions: Partnerships with different organizations for training and placement opportunities.
- Placement Preparedness Workshops: Sessions to prepare students for job placements. Workshops often feature professionals who share their expertise and experiences, providing invaluable insights and helping students identify their niche in the social or corporate sectors.
- Career Guidance: Personalized career counselling sessions to assist students in making informed career choices.
In addition to facilitating job placements by bringing various recruiters to campus, the Placement Cell organizes a range of activities to prepare students for their careers. These activities include seminars, talks, workshops, ‘Resume writing’, ‘Interview techniques’, ‘Soft skills’, and ‘Personality development’ and various other competitions to enable the students of Mahavidyalaya to become successful professionals and we also focused on building their overall personalities.

Standard Operating Procedure for Conducting the Placement Drive
The Placement Policy of YSM, Ranchi aims to facilitate meaningful employment opportunities for our students while ensuring ethical practices and industry relevance in the recruitment process. This policy governs the conduct of placement activities at the Mahavidyalaya and sets forth guidelines for the placement team of the college, students, and participating companies.
Phase -1
Sharing the information of the placement drive to the office of principal with the followings:
- Name of the company;
- Credentials of the company;
- Name and the contact details of the HR;
- Job description;
- Post offered;
- Job location;
- Expected salary; &
- Expected date of joining.
Phase -2
During the placement, the following actions must be followed:
- Approval from the Principal will be taken;
- Placement drive will be conducted on the Mahavidyalaya premises;
- Presence of Prof. In charge- Placement Cell/Skill Development during the placement process is necessary;
- Collection of the offer letter/Appointment Letter which includes:
- Probation Period
- CTC
- PF/ ESIC facility (if applicable)
- Any term & condition (if any)
- Undertaking from the selected student and their parents is necessary;
- Credentials of the company’s representative must be submitted;
- Document shared with the government agencies such as district administration/ labour office/ RPF/ any other must be submitted before the relocation of the candidates;
- Final approval of the principal to be communicated by the Prof. In charge- Placement/ Skill Development, &
- Any other relevant documents is necessary.
